Interactive and individually focused learning under the guidance of international and senior teaching faculty, as well as the chance to specialize in one of two fascinating fields, all set this program apart. And you learn it all just a short distance from the two nerve centers of international and European public law: The Hague and Brussels.

The IEPL Master Programme offers an analysis of the international legal order and of the core issues of the new Millennium. It does so from two distinct perspectives:
Public International law and Human Rights, and European Union Law

Students whose main interest is in developing their knowledge of international law, international politics and human rights issues will be able to register for the International Law and Human Rights specialisation, while students whose main interest is in European law and politics will be able to register for the EU Law specialisation. The law but also the international organisations and judiciary bodies within which it is made, interpreted, and applied are the core focus of the programme.

The International Law and Human Rights specialisation focuses upon current issues of international and human rights law, such as the stretching and limitations of the use of violence, the role of the United Nations in a divided world, the balance between the fight against terror and human rights, and human trafficking. All issues are taught from a legal perspective, but this is done within the societal and political context within which they occur ('law in context'). The programme thus aims at obtaining an outstanding legal knowledge of the issues involved, in relation to their societal relevance.

The European Union Law specialisation offers an in-depth education on both the constitutional and economic foundations of the European integration process. It aims at providing the students with a broad understanding of not only the EU itself, but also of its relation with the member States and the rest of the world. In addition, this specialisation offers an advanced knowledge of the most significant EU policies (competition, immigration, environment, social, sport policies, etc). The focus is here again the relationship between law and society ('law in context').
