Internationally oriented journalism

In an Erasmus Mundus Master’s degree programme, you work with students from all over the world in an interdisciplinary and intercultural environment that is both international and ambitious. You learn to combine academic, theoretical knowledge with journalistic skills, and you learn to analyse, interpret and generate knowledge about the global changes that increasingly challenge traditional boundaries.

As a student in the programme, you study for two years at some of Europe’s leading universities where top researchers in media studies and journalism are responsible for the teaching. This gives you an opportunity to customise your talent as a journalist to an international level.

The degree programme has been granted the EU’s Erasmus Mundus label and you will be awarded a joint Master’s degree by Aarhus University and one of the European partner universities.

More about the degree programme

Two years of Erasmus Mundus studies will change your life. The programme will change your view of the world and your own opportunities in the world. Together with students from all over the world, you will learn to understand and practise journalism using a global approach.

The Erasmus Mundus Master’s programme in Journalism, Media and Globalisation is a European  degree programme. The first year of the degree programme takes place at Aarhus University and the Danish School of Media and Journalism where the courses you take focus on globalisation and journalism. During your second year, you choose a specialisation in one of the following areas:

  • 'Media and Politics' at University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands
  • 'Business & Finance Journalism' at City University London, UK
  • 'Comparative and Transcultural Approaches' at University of Hamburg, Germany
  • 'War and Conflict' at University of Swansea, Wales

The programme is very varied and consists of lectures, seminars, workshops, group work, discussions, small research projects and portfolio work.

  • IELTS – 6.5
  • TOEFL – 83 . Aarhus universiteto TOEFL kodas yra 8935.
Svarbūs reikalavimai

To be admitted to the Erasmus Mundus Journalism degree programme, you must have a Bachelor’s degree with good marks in a humanistic or social sciences discipline.

The Erasmus Mundus Journalism degree programme places emphasis on the ability to reflect on journalism. It is therefore a requirement that you have a minimum of three months’ experience as a journalist before commencing the degree programme.

Please note that both the application form and ALL supporting documents must be sent in before the deadline - 1 January: otherwise your application cannot be considered.

Required application documents
  • Academic documents
    • Please include all university transcripts and diplomas/certificates. Completed and official graduation certificates and transcripts of all previous colleges or university studies must be submitted. All transcripts or academic records must be official documents provided in the original language. If that language is not English, they must also be accompanied by certified translations. Applicants who are currently finishing a degree and haven’t yet received an official university graduation certificate are required to submit an official transcript for all semesters completed to the present time. Such students must also provide an official statement from their current university stating the expected date of graduation and degree to be awarded.
  • Journalistic documents
    • Proof of experience: In order to provide proof of your work as a professional journalist, a current or previous employer needs to supply a signed document that states the employment period.
    • Work samples: Please submit three articles or other samples of your journalistic work, preferably in English. You can include Internet addresses instead if your work is available on the web. Do not submit more than three articles or equivalent. If your samples are not in English, please include a short English summary (you are welcome to make that summary yourself). If your journalism work samples cannot be included in a PDF file (e.g. radio or TV samples on cd/dvd), please include detailed information on your samples. If needed the Mundus Consortium might ask you to forward these samples by postal mail.
