User Experience Design
Whether it’s a smart fridge that stocks itself up online, or a watch that tracks activity, the user experience of digital technology is a reality for every professional designer. As a prospective student of User Experience Design (UXD) at The Hague University of Applied Sciences (THUAS), you might already have some initial ideas of how to improve daily lives with technology. UXD takes this one step further and teaches you is to hone your creativity by putting the end user of your product at the forefront of the design process.
How people’s experiences, emotions, values and goals intersect with technology is at the core of UXD. We’ll teach you how to design useful products and services based on how users behave. You could be the next bright engineer who creates an app that makes algebra fun for school kids by tapping into the latest virtual reality technology. To help ideas like these pop into your head, year one will encourage you to focus on the user and his/her interaction with technology.
In year two, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the design process by considering different stakeholders of the product. Year three will take a closer look at the social impact of technology before you concluding the year with your internship and graduation project.
During year two you will get the chance to specialise as a UX designer by following a minor on UXD, at another THUAS faculty, or even another university. You can apply for Photography in Focus, which covers a brief history of photography complemented by practical photography master classes. Or follow an Internet Marketing Tools minor, which teaches you how to help companies reach their target audiences online. You can also take the Game Development and Simulation minor, which readies you for a career in developing games. You will learn the basics of 3D modelling, simulation and artificial intelligence (AI).

Anglų kalbos žinias gali patvirtinti vienu iš šių būdų:
- turėti anglų kalbos pažymį Brandos atestate ir išlaikyti Anglų kalbos valstybinį egzaminą (egzamino rezultatas nėra svarbus, svarbiausia, kad jį išlaikytum)*
arba
- išlaikyti IELTS arba TOEFL testą.
*Jeigu nori pasitikrinti ar tavo anglų kalbos žinios yra pakankamos studijuoti Nyderlandų aukštosiose – suteikiame galimybę laikyti Oxford anglų kalbos testą. Nors anglų kalbos testas nėra reikalaujamas, patartina žinoti savo galimybes ir kalbos lygį.
Visi, kurie dar nėra pabaigę mokyklos ir į šį universitetą stoja besimokydami 12 klasėje, kartu su pažymių išrašu privalo prisegti ir dokumentą, kuriame būtų nurodyti planuojami laikyti brandos egzaminai. Dokumentą turi patvirtinti mokyklos administracija. Egzaminų formą rasi ČIA.
After you complete the degree programme and begin working on real assignments, you could be a developer and co-create an entirely new shoe franchise for Converse using the feedback of end users. But as a young professional, you do much more. You’ll discover the culture at your company and what the profession does on a daily basis. You’ll attend meetings and company parties. You’ll also learn all there is to know about your market - the latest developments, the competition and what they do.

Continue studying
If you’re academically inclined, you may want to follow a master’s after graduating from UXD. Because of UXD’s specific programme, there are as yet no master’s at THUAS that appropriately complement the UXD bachelor. However, our neighbours at the Delft University of Technology offer an interesting alternative, Human Technology Interaction. This master is focused on design. You could also apply for the Media Technology Master at Leiden University.
Outside the Netherlands, UXD students can follow a master’s straight after graduation. You should note that some universities in the Netherlands require you to follow a pre-master’s course after graduating from THUAS.
