Do you want to speak and write French at 'near-native' level? After completing our part-time Teacher Education in French Master programme, the French language won't hold any secrets for you!  You will also have developed a critical approach to language education and will be ready to put this into practise.

This master programme prepares you to teach French language and literature to the higher classes of Dutch higher secondary and tertiary education (HAVO, VWO and HBO in Dutch). Instead of spending a great deal of time in-class, you will be spending most of your time in front of it, teaching teens and young adults at the school where you work. The combination of one day a week at HU, and the rest of the week actually teaching makes for an ideal combination.

Why study the Master Teacher in French at HU?

  • Studying language and education theory. During this master you deepen your knowledge of French language and culture, as well as strengthen your didactic and pedagogical foundation.
  • Innovative learning. You study in a digital learning environment rather than spending long hours in-class.
  • Ready for the future. What you learn at HU, you can put into practice immediately, ensuring you are ready to take your career to great heights.

The combination of practical lessons and academics when studying HU's Teacher Education in French Master programme prepares you to be well equipped to teach French in the upper form of secondary education in the Netherlands. You will have studied didactics, teaching theory and of course the French language. Moreover there is enough flexibility for you to choose your own pace during the course.
