For Creatives with a Focus on Game Art, Technology & Innovation

During your studies, you will become proficient in the various methods and tools required in creating game art. The studies cover a wide range of different subjects with an emphasis on 3D modelling, animation, and procedural generation.

Beyond the core programme, there is an opportunity to focus on an area of specific interest such as technical art, marketing art or character design. The studies aim to provide competence in the global game design industry with hands-on experience.

The students develop their design skills and learn to use professional tools by working on collaborative game projects with students from the Degree Programme in Game Design. During these projects, different game art concepts, prototypes and final assets are explored with the aim of improving the students’ aesthetic, production, design thinking, communication, and teamwork skills and competences.

Graduates of the programme are able to create game art that meets the needs of a product, brand and end users.

Structure of studies

The Degree Programme in Game Art consists of eight core competence study modules, including a period of practical training and a thesis.

Additionally, there are modules covering complementary competences that provide a specialization route for those focusing on specific disciplines within the industry, including broader optional studies.

The aim is that your knowledge as a game artist will increase, and the content of your studies follows certain themes:

  • In the first year, you become familiar with the principles of game art and design thinking, tools and software as well as project-based work.
  • In the second year, you further develop your skills in game art by creating and animating assets and environments for a game as part of a team.
  • In the third year, you further specialize in your area of interest and apply your skills and knowledge through a development project.
  • In the fourth year, you carry out practical training and a thesis to demonstrate the skills needed in the industry.

Daytime (full-time) studies
Students work on campus from Monday to Friday. This is for you if you value peer support and the network of your classmates on a daily basis.

You are able to utilize the software and hardware available on campus at Meduusa Studio, where most of the instruction takes place.
