Public safety, international security and industrial safety are the three pillars of SSMS. In years two and three, you’ll get an insight into contemporary security threats, such as hybrid warfare and transnational crime. As a Safety and Security Manager, you will be on the front line and have access to secret or confidential information. This special position creates a close-knit community among lecturers and students.
To be an SSMS professional, you’ll first have to attain a basic understanding of safety and security. This is why year one prepares you with introductory courses like International Law, Criminology, Psychology, Economics, Policy Making, Business Administration and management courses. Before you even think about advising commercial companies and governmental institutions on their safety and security policies, you’ll have to understand their organisational structures and cultures.
We work in dynamic groups to tackle SSMS topics from a practical perspective. Safety and security management is all about anticipating and identifying risk, which can only be done if you do the groundwork. For example, after studying the basics of criminology, psychology and security management, we hone your professional skills in the ‘Getting the problem right’ project. These introductory practical elements will get you investigating safety and security management issues before moving on to resolve bigger issues in the second and third years.

Anglų kalbos žinias gali patvirtinti vienu iš šių būdų:
- turėti anglų kalbos pažymį Brandos atestate ir išlaikyti Anglų kalbos valstybinį egzaminą (egzamino rezultatas nėra svarbus, svarbiausia, kad jį išlaikytum)*
arba
- išlaikyti IELTS arba TOEFL testą.
*Jeigu nori pasitikrinti ar tavo anglų kalbos žinios yra pakankamos studijuoti Nyderlandų aukštosiose – suteikiame galimybę laikyti Oxford anglų kalbos testą. Nors anglų kalbos testas nėra reikalaujamas, patartina žinoti savo galimybes ir kalbos lygį.
Visi, kurie dar nėra pabaigę mokyklos ir į šį universitetą stoja besimokydami 12 klasėje, kartu su pažymių išrašu privalo prisegti ir dokumentą, kuriame būtų nurodyti planuojami laikyti brandos egzaminai. Dokumentą turi patvirtinti mokyklos administracija. Egzaminų formą rasi ČIA.

Continue studying
If you’re academically minded, you may want to follow a master’s after graduating from SSMS in fields more related to crisis management, international relations or with a more business oriented curriculum. Outside the Netherlands, SSMS students can follow a master’s straight after graduation. You should note that some universities in the Netherlands require you to follow a pre-master’s course after graduating from THUAS.
Students of the Bachelor’s programme Safety and Security Management Studies (The Hague University of Applied Sciences) who fulfil specific academic and administrative criteria, and upon successful graduation from the programme, will have their application to the MSc programme ‘Crisis and Security Management’ of Leiden University accepted without further conditions. i.e. a Pre-master track will not be required.
