Studying health and social care at university is ideal for individuals who are interested in careers in either health or social care environments, including the NHS, Social Services, independent health and social care, voluntary and charitable sectors. The aim of the health and social care degree is to enable students to develop a critical understanding of policy, theory and practice in health and social care.

A wide variety of subjects are taught as applied to health and social care, these include:

  • psychology
  • sociology
  • human anatomy and physiology
  • management and leadership
  • research skills

Studying health and social care at university will provide students with an overview of the structure and organisation of UK health and social care. The degree also covers major UK and Welsh Government policy on health and social care provision.

The degree will prepare students to work across professional and organisational boundaries promoting professional and service-user relationships and inter-professional collaboration.

Students will be enabled to identify and assess the nature and extent of the issues involved in managing public health locally, nationally and internationally.

The programme is aimed at individuals who are interested in careers in either health or social care environments, including the NHS, Social Services, independent health and social care, voluntary and charitable sectors.

Useful subjects to have studied prior to taking this degree are the humanities especially sociology or psychology. The study of human biology and the biosciences are also helpful. Students should have an interest in working with people.

Prospective students should possess the ability to communicate well with a diverse range of people and demonstrate the potential to develop personal qualities useful for team working, leadership and management.

Reikalaujamas išsilavinimas

Stojant šį universitetą dėmesys yra kreipiamas į pažymius ir Brandos atestato vidurkį, kuris turi būti tarp 7,5 ir 9 (kokio vidurkio reikalaus, priklausys nuo programos į kurią stosi)  bei  70 - 80 % vidurkis iš 3 laikytų valstybinių egzaminų .

  • Pažymių išrašas - jei dar nesi baigęs mokyklos, būtina prisegti pažymių išrašą. Smulkesnę informaciją kaip pildyti išrašą ir kada jis reikalingas, rasi čia.*

  • Brandos atestatas – jei jau esi baigęs mokyklą, išrašo nereikia, užtenka prie Kastu stojimo anketos prisegti savo Brandos atestatą.

Anglų kalbos reikalavimai

Svarbu, jog anglų kalbos testo rezultatai universitetą pasiektų iki Liepos 31d.

Anglų kalbos žinias gali patvirtinti vienu iš šių būdų:

  • 70% iš valstybinio anglų kalbos egzamino
  • IELTS - 6.0

  • TOEFL – 80

Studying health and social care at university is ideal for individuals who see health and social care as an attractive career pathway but do not wish to pursue professional careers in medicine, nursing or social work.

The degree is excellent preparation for students seeking administrative, managerial type roles within health and social care. It would also be highly relevant in the voluntary and independent sectors and to major charitable organisations with either a health or social care focus.

Within health and social care services there are recognised career pathways and the NHS has a national pay structure linked to a framework of knowledge and skills to support professional, personal and career development.
