The United States continues to be one of the most significant agenda-setting countries in the world. Its politics, cutting-edge media, and exciting popular culture have far-reaching influences on other societies. The world seems to love American culture while being deeply distrustful of its power and politics. The Master’s programme in North American Studies touches on subjects such as Americanisation, globalisation, balances of power, transatlantic transfer, cultural mobility, exceptionalism, and cultural diplomacy. You’ll come to understand what shaped Europe's image of the United States and vice versa.
Specialisation

Transatlantic Studies: History, Culture and Politics. Transatlantic Studies examines the paradoxical connections between the two sides of the Atlantic Ocean. You will learn to analyse the past and present of multilayered exchanges between North America and Europe.

Something for you?

  • You will study processes of cultural, geopolitical and economic exchange between North America and Europe
  • Internships and international exchange options are embedded in the curriculum
  • The programme is career oriented. You will acquire invaluable transferable skills in international classrooms, excursions, and interfaculty seminars

In close collaboration with fellow students and staff, you will reflect on complex international interactions through themes such as global citizenship, democracy, international cooperation, freedom, equality, and human rights, all from a transatlantic perspective. The interdisciplinary approach will allow you to use and synthesise knowledge from a wide range of sources, such as digital collections, social media, policy documents, visual media, literature and popular culture. You will acquire intercultural skills to work in or with other cultures and societies.

The Master’s specialization in Transatlantic Studies: History, Culture and Politics is taught at the Faculty of Arts. The program is structured along three tracks that interact with each other: Theories and Practices, Culture, Politics and History.

  • ECTS kreditų išrašas - jei dar nesi baigęs aukštosios mokyklos, būtina prisegti ECTS kreditų išrašą, kuriame būtų matyti, kokius dalykus Tu mokeisi bei kokius pažymius ir kiek kreditų už juos gavai. Kai siunti anketą paskutiniame kurse, diplomą reikia prisegti vėliau, kai tik jį gausi.
  • Bakalauro diplomas – jei jau esi baigęs aukštąją mokyklą, išrašo nereikia, užtenka prie anketos prisegti savo Bakalauro diplomą.
