Become a finance professional who works on the threshold between finance and data science. Collecting and analyzing data is of great importance in the financial sector as it tries to predict market changes to make the best investments and gain a competitive advantage. The Data Science track of MSc Finance prepares you for a career as a financial data scientist who not only knows about collecting, mining, and making sense of data, but is also an industry expert with in-depth financial knowledge.

The MSc Finance Data Science track prepares you to excel in the dynamic and data-driven finance industry by combining advanced data analytics techniques with specialized financial expertise.

Program and courses

The program prepares you to excel in the dynamic and data-driven finance industry by combining advanced data analytics techniques with specialized financial expertise.

  • Gain in-depth knowledge of the financial domain and get familiar with the latest more specialized data analysis techniques.
  • Develop your skills to structure sheer amounts of information that is collected by de finance industry in such a way that conducting analysis is possible and can be interpreted in a sensible way. This is a challenge in all subfields of finance, for example Mergers & Acquisitions, Investments, Trading and Banking and it typically requires much greater skills than a standard data analyst.
  • The program is taught by teachers with very good teaching evaluations. The teachers are some of the world's leading finance academics. Many teachers in the program have been awarded Excellent Teacher awards.

Reikalaujamas išsilavinimas

Į magistro studijų programas gali stoti visi, baigę universitetą arba besimokantys paskutiniame kurse. Studijos kurias baigei ar tebesimokai turi būti panašios krypties kaip ir tos, į kurias nori stoti, kadangi priėmimas yra paremtas ECTS kreditų suderinamumu.

  • ECTS kreditų išrašas - jei dar nesi baigęs aukštosios mokyklos, būtina prisegti ECTS kreditų išrašą, kuriame būtų matyti, kokius dalykus Tu mokeisi bei kokius pažymius ir kiek kreditų už juos gavai. Kai siunti anketą paskutiniame kurse, diplomą reikia prisegti vėliau, kai tik jį gausi.
  • Bakalauro diplomas – jei jau esi baigęs aukštąją mokyklą, išrašo nereikia, užtenka prie anketos prisegti savo Bakalauro diplomą.

 

Anglų kalbos reikalavimai

SVARBU: anglų kalbos testo sertifikatą privaloma pateikti kartu su visais dokumentais, atsiunčiant anketą. Universitetas nesvarsto stojimo anketų be anglų kalbos testo rezultatų, todėl sertifikatą privaloma pateikti iki stojimo pabaigos. Anglų kalbos žinias gali patvirtinti vienu iš šių būdų:

  • IELTS – 6.5, ne mažiau nei 6.0 iš kiekvienos dalies
  • TOEFL – 90

You must have a solid academic foundation in the following areas to qualify for the Master's in Finance:

  • Mathematics and Statistics (24 ECTS)
  • Economics, including Microeconomics (18 ECTS)
  • Management or Marketing (12 ECTS)
  • Accounting (12 ECTS)
  • Finance (12 ECTS)
  • Academic training (24 ECTS)*

*Academic training means courses / experience in research skills and an academic way of working. E.g., if you have written a thesis or have done a research project this will count as academic training.

The GMAT or GRE test is a compulsory qualitative admission requirement for this program

  • The required minimum GMAT Overall score for applicants is 550. GRE test scores are also accepted. Scores should be recalculated to comparable GMAT scores via the conversion tool.
  • The GMAT institutional code for Tilburg University is VMV-LT-02. The GRE institution code for Tilburg University is 0730.

Please note:

  • The test results must not be older than two years at the time of application.
  • It is not obligatory to have completed the GMAT test before application. In our online application system you can indicate the approximate test date.

Exemptions from the GMAT requirement

  • Students with a relevant degree from one of the official partner universities of the Tilburg School of Economics and Management are exempted from the GMAT requirement.

Future financial data scientists can have extremely broad responsibilities, but these vary depending on the area they work in. These areas include for example risk management, (algorithmic) trading and investing, and mergers & acquisitions guidance. The MSc Finance Data Science track educates future finance professionals who work on the threshold between finance and data science.
